About
I am a third-year transfer student from San Diego Miramar College (MC), and my commitment to higher education accessibility is deeply personal. As the daughter of an immigrant, re-entry student mother who has worked towards her GED and associate's degree for the past 16 years, I’ve firsthand witnessed the up-hill battle to obtain a higher education. From attending community colleges with her to transferring as a first-generation student to UC Berkeley, I’m dedicated to ensuring all student needs are represented and met so that students can pursue ambitions to their highest potential. I will prioritize nontraditional transfer student success through various equity-centered and multicultural initiatives, including the removal of barriers to extracurricular programming, ensuring lucrative opportunity accessibility. I will strengthen basic needs security for all by creating a home appliance lending model for costly, infrequent-use appliances to alleviate financial burdens. In collaboration with community leaders, I will enhance student wellness support through a culturally informed approach addressing stressors unique to low-income, immigrant, and first-generation communities, alongside topics related to substance use. My leadership experience as MC Student President overseeing 13,000 students, Board Trustee for the San Diego Community College District representing 80,000 students, and Nontraditional Equity and Opportunity Executive in the ASUC Transfer Student Representative's Office* prepares me to fight barriers to basic needs access, informed wellness support, and targeted resources for underserved communities. I am leading with 100% lived experiences to ensure an impactful, community-centered, and representative individual is at the table.
